George Foreman challenges Steven Seagal to a 10-round fight in Las Vegas

Two-time heavyweight champion of the world and indoor grilling entrepreneur George Foreman is threatening to get back into the ring for a no-holds-barred Las Vegas showdown with Steven Seagal, the film star who started out as a martial arts instructor.

“Steven Seagal, I challenge you,” he tweeted on Monday, “one on one, I use boxing. you can use whatever. 10 rounds in Vegas.”

This year has already brought one big cross-discipline box office pay-out.

In August the boxer Floyd Mayweather took on UFC fighter Conor McGregor in a bout that brought the two fighters a reported combined purse of as much as $400 million. (For the record, the 40-year-old boxer won in the tenth round.)

However, if Foreman is serious about gloving up then he needs to get a move on with the contract negotiations. The retired boxer is 68 while the action movie star is 65.

The Twitter challenge sparked intense speculation about Foreman’s motives. Was it a joke? Maybe a jab at money-grabbing fighters going on too long? (Although that would hit a bit close to home. Foreman’s last fight was at the age of 48)

Or was it political? Did it have something to do with Seagal complaining that recent American football protests were “disgusting”.

For his part, Foreman said there was no anger involved.
Seagal, a seventh dan black belt in Akido and star of Under Siege, has yet to respond to the challenge.
It has already been dubbed the Geezers at Caesars.
